Surprise of the best kind....

We were excited for Grandma Shele to come into town this morning. She is always such a great help, and recently we have been needing a lot of it. She packed a surprise stowaway and minutes after she arrived at our house Grandpa Glen walked in saying "I heard there was a good barber here who gives buzz cuts." We were all very shocked and excited. We had a great day, watching T play basketball, and hanging out. Grandpa Glen, obviously anxious, was shaved tonight by Grace. Interestingly enough, it was his first shave ever! He was more fond of the hippy-hair as as kid then a buzz cut. When Gracie was asked why Grandpa let her shave his head she said "Because he wants to make me happy." Tears and smiles were plenty as we watched his hair go. What a sacrifice to make our little girl smile. We will be sad when Grandpa leaves tomorrow, but what a wonderful gift for him just to visit, let alone, return with much less hair.

We can't wait to spend the week with Grandma and know that she will make this week, as well as Thursday's long and arduous chemo, easier for all of us.

As for the kids, they are doing great and are excited for an extra day off of school. Gracie has been feeling better and seems to have a little more energy.

Today's chemo

Grace was supposed to have her BIG day of chemo-with three new kinds and it was to last the full day. But, when we got her port all hooked up, her blood counts had dropped clear to 400, so she can't begin until count recovery. We are supposed to try again in a week, same regiment, including a spinal tap. No wonder she has felt so rotten! She has very little by way of healthy blood cells protecting her. But, who can complain about NOT receiving chemo, right? All the more time for Polly Pockets and fun when she's up to it.

Another stylin' do!

Wow! We are amazed...so many kind people. Tanner's close buddy Shaheen decided that he would step it up for Grace, too. Here are the adorable results (little does Shaheen know-Grace made me check his picture several times-she's always had a big crush on the little sweetheart)!

Thanks, Uncle Nick!

JR's darling brother Nick shaved his hair to show his support and love for Gracie! They have always had a really special friendship, in fact, Grace ADORES Nick. So, thank you Nick for making her smile! We love the new look!
Here is what Nick wrote:
Hey guys! hope you all are doing well! Max gave me my new haircut! I got a lil bit of a mohawk and some steps on the side! haha! Love you guys! Grace I would have rather you cut my hair, since I saw what a wonderful job you did on your dads!
Love Uncle Nick
