I have taken over the blog tonight to do something I have been meaning to do for a very long time. I wanted to surprise Kim and therefore have not found a solid chunk of time to write this until now.
As many of you know Kim is an amazing mother and has such a tender heart. Since August 13, 2008 Kim has risen to the call of being a mother of a child who is suffering from cancer. She has showed me how to be strong, she has showed me how to be brave and has devoted every minute of her day to learning about Leukemia. She does not take the easy road, or the selfish one, rather she is constantly thinking about how to make our children's lives better, thinking of ways to better their days, thinking of new ways for them to be creative, and constantly trying to improve her parenting. Yet, she is also very hard on herself and for a long time blamed herself for Gracie's illness. Since we find out about Grace I think Kim has read 6 childhood Leukemia books, she has read every single word in every single handout given to us by the hospital. She is constantly thinking of ways to help Gracie and writing down questions to ask the doctors. I just want to express my appreciation for her and for all the amazing things she does. It does not have to take a family crisis to see all the amazing things my wife does, but through this I have seen strength and wisdom that astonishes me daily. She is tireless and selfless and I am so lucky.
Dating and getting married at such an early age did not lend itself to thinking about and evaluating all the minute details which make up a good marriage, a good wife, a good mother, or a good friend. Many individuals search a lifetime for a partner with these traits. I on the other hand won the lottery. I have been blessed with a wife who puts family and love above all else. I cannot express how grateful I am to go on this difficult journey with her. She is more than I could have imagined in a woman, mother and wife and Gracie, Tanner, and Eva will never know how lucky they are to have her as their mother.

Kim is truely a beacon to us all! I might add that she is also an amazing friend, still finding time to be kind to others, when it would be so easy to look inward. JR you are also an amazing father! You both make quiet the team, and you are examples to all of us!

Amen to all of that, JR, and you are so great to see all of that in her. She is truly my inspiration as a wife and a mother, and was long before this illness came to your sweet family. I absolutely ADORE Kim and call her the PVIMH (which stands for "The parenting voice in my head"). I also agree that she is way too hard on herself, and only has reason to be proud of the unbelievable way she has, along with you, JR, created the most beautiful family that will get through this current challenge with complete GRACE. Our love to you ALL!
JR, you couldn't be more right. From the minute I met Kim I was in awe of her thoughfulness, her sincerity, and her goofiness. She truly is one of the most genuine people I've ever met.

What a tribute!! Every word of it was absolutely true. Kim is a best friend to all but has always been such a support to me for the last 24 years. She will always be a beacon of strength and a constant example to me of what a mother, sister, and friend should be. I love you Bers!!
Oh, it's so true! Kim is such a deary and an example to us of womanhood and motherhood. I admire her soooo much. What strength and character.
I too am impressed by BOTH of you! This is not an easy time, but you both stand as shining examples to me! This was such a thoughtful tribute! Way to go JR!
JR, that is so nice and so true. Kim has always been such an example to me of what a great mother should be...completely selfless.
Kim really is such an amazing person. I look up to her in so many ways and echo all the good things you mentioned.

I think we should clone both of you! Your parents have a lot to be proud of, and they they must have been great role models for the two of you to turn out so exceptional. Hugs to both of you and Tanner for staying so strong through all of this.
I cannot tell you how awesome Matt and I think you both are. People's true character shine through in the face of adversity, and yours are beautiful! Kim IS a wonderful mother. What a great tribute to her!
