First, I feel I need to explain this picture. Grace has always been fascinated by the fact that as a child I used to have an imaginary friend named DEE-DEE. I told her that when I was little and was asked what DEE-DEE looked like I explained that DEE-DEE looked exactly like me just with glasses. Since I told her this she would show up at random times wearing glasses saying "I'm DEE-DEE" and laugh. I think she thought I was a little crazy and was hazing me for it. During this time we were also talking about animation, computer graphics and how movies sometimes make things that aren't real. We decided to make a picture of Grace and her imaginary friend DEE-DEE. Grace was really into it as you can tell by the facial expressions and the change of outfits. Anyway, with a little photoshop and cropping Grace got a kick out of seeing her "evil" or visually challenged twin.
Gracie had chemo today and a spinal tap. She is really worn out, but taking it well. Although we are happy that Grace will be visiting the hospital less during this Maintenance phase we were saddened to learn that will all the new medicine she will be taking at home, she might not be as energetic or even as pain-free as we imagined. She has been amazingly strong and even today mustered up enough strength to ride in the bike chariot with her sister and eat a little. At other times she was laying on the couch or sitting at the kitchen table with her head in her hands. We are so grateful for how well she is doing, yet it is so hard to see Grace struggle in such a way. She tries hard to smile, laugh, and be the girl she used to be and yet her medicine weighs on her heavily.
Eva is great and loving the great weather. Today, stealing a second to eat my breakfast, she managed to sneak outside, drag a chair to the trampoline, climb up, unzip the netting, crawl in, zip up the netting, and yell "Dad, bounce-bounce!" She is constantly climbing, jumping, and laughing. She is full of pure adventure and joy.

Tanner is loving baseball and Soccer. For once in his life he is actually playing on a team with kids his own age and it is great. He also is doing great in school and soon is going to surpass both his mother and father in math since he is in pre-algebra right now. He has a big day tomorrow, his school is finishing up their maturation classes. He asked us today at the dinner table if he could play "Hooky". Guess he is going to have to sit and try not to laugh tomorrow with all the other boys snickering.

Holy photoshop genious! I cant tell you how long I stared at that picture trying to figure out what was happening before reading the rest of the post, thats hillarious, I love it and cant stop laughing :) And that sweet Eva, that video was SO sugary it made me melt! Tanner is too awesome for words, smarty pants, good looking, total boy package! Love your updates!
I am laughing so hard! I thought you peeked inside my life and looked at my cute Caroline...
(before I read the post, the picture reminded me of Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde. In Caroline's case it would be Mrs. Caroline and Cruella.)
Hat's off to Tanner as he enjoys a sudden case of the flu so he can bag on school. Take him to breakfast man... he's already had the chat. SPARE THE POOR KID. I still have nightmare's about sitting with Luci Wimmer at maturation wondering what the heck they were talking about. I just wanted to go play wall ball!
Give Gracie a hug from all of us and tell her not to forget that Lacy/Geneva, the unicorn, needs to have her medicine at home too. Also, Lacey/Geneva really likes ice-cream after.
I think it's so funny that she is fascinated by your imaginary friend--that is hilarious! She is so cute.
Eva is darling in her video--she is talking so well!
and Tanner is looking more and more like JR I think. Poor kid having to go to that maturation program. I wanted to skip it too.
Your post about Easter was truly beautiful and it has been good to catch up--it's been a while since I've been on your blog. By the way, Grace has the most beautiful face--the pictures of her are stunning--hair or no hair! I hope that she feels better soon and I will be keeping my fingers crossed that she can attend her kindergarten graduation.
I'm loving this post. The picture with the alter ego is hilarious!! I too had to take a good look. The video with Eva is just precious! Really, I think she is just adorable. Maybe she'll go for younger men when she gets older. :D
And... Tanner... I love the picture with him rock climbing! He's one cool cat!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Much love!
I loved seeing and listening to how sweet you were with Eva. Your voice was so musical and gentle. That little girl knows she's loved!
We hope Grace is feeling better. Those spinal taps are sad to watch. I thought I could be brave enough to watch when Eliza had hers but it broke my heart. I just had to close my eyes and listen to her crying. SO HARD!!! Hang in there!
I LOVE the evil twin pic, so creative and cute! I am so glad that Gracie has pulled through such intensive treatments! T is getting so big, and that video of smarty pants Eva is so sweet, especially the "love you mama!"
That cracks me up with Grace. I am so impressed by the photoshop! Tanner is awesome. Olivia needs a tutor this summer, is he for hire? Eva is super sweet, and so is her awesome mommy.
You have such amazing kids, guys - but you already know that, right? Guess it doesn't hurt that they have awesome parents.
